Bible in 90 Days Challenge!
It is a new year, and always a time when I evaluate my Bible reading. Sadly, 2010 was a weak year as far as actual time that I spent in the Word, although it was a huge year of spiritual growth (I know that doesn’t sound like it makes sense, but trust me, God was working in BIG ways in my soul last year). I have always wanted to read the Bible through and I’m ashamed to say that I’ve not yet made it happen. I always start out the year with a resolution and great intentions, but a year is soooo long, and I always get behind, then get discouraged, and then I QUIT. I really hate to be a quitter, but I have been a quitter a lot when it comes to reading the Bible through.
A few weeks ago as I was reading the blog of another mama who has adopted from Ethiopia (you can see her blog here), I noticed she’d written about a challenge to read the Bible through in 90 days. She’s done it and is mentoring a group that starts tomorrow, January 3. It has been nagging at me ever since, and after discussing it with David, I’ve decided to commit to this challenge. First of all, I think I’ll do better focusing on a shorter time frame (90 days vs. an entire year). Yes, of course that means way more reading every day, but the way my brain works, I think this will be better for me with the end so clearly in sight. Also, the months of January through March are the slowest months of our year, typically. The slow winter months are a great time to hunker down and read, read, read. Not to mention that it will help pass the time until we get our referral (and after that, I know I’ll be much busier and will not have as much time to read). It is logically a great time for me to dive head first into such a big challenge!!

I know Satan will have a field day distracting me with a million things as I do this, so if you think of it, please say a prayer for me as I seek to honor the Lord with my time in His Word for the next 90 days.

My mom has challenged a bunch of people (via facebook) to read the Bible in 90 days so I’m giving it a try too:) We started Jan. 1st. I’m sure you already know this but if you have a kindle it’s only $7 to buy the 90 day Bible on there. Also, I broke it up into 15 minute segments and it’s been working well for the last 2 days. I read 15 minutes before breakfast, 15 before lunch and then finish up before bed. I can’t wait to hear how it goes for you. Perhaps we can share what we learn in ET:)
